Frequently Asked Questions

1) Has FMP the resources to take my project from concept to manufacture?
Yes FMP specialise in providing solutions that include design, formulation, manufacture and regulatory compliance. We can work with customer supplied components or provide a full ‘turnkey’ service. There are a number of case studies available that provide an excellent assessment of what is possible.
2) I would like to develop a new product but the initial tooling costs are prohibitive.
For medical devices and bespoke pharmaceutical packaging, tooling costs can be high. FMP can provide a service whereby such cost can be amortised over an agreed period rather than funded at the commencement of the project.
3) Long lead times are a feature of most contract packing operations, is FMP any different?
Make to order can carry long lead times, particularly if specialised materials are to be used which may themselves have long lead times. FMP provide a service, supplying from stock where commercial agreements are in place. No charge is made for holding such stock. But customers are generally asked to underwrite the stock for a period of twelve months.
4) Can FMP provide total supply chain solutions?
Yes, for most of the products we supply we control in house all the requirements. For example with sachets, we print the material, blend the solution and form the sachet. Similar control is demonstrated with four side seal packing and biocide filling where we manufacture on site the key components.
5) How can FMP while producing for other companies protect my intellectual property?
A key feature of FMP’s operation is the protection of the IP of its customers during the development and manufacturing operations. Detailed agreements are created together with covert manufacturing and processing operation if required. Screened processing, pallet covers and strict procedures are used where appropriate.
6) I would like to install my own manufacturing equipment for the sole use of my product.
FMP have a number of customer machines on site that are used solely for the manufacture of the customer’s product. Such an arrangement is covered by detailed supply agreements relating to use and maintenance of the equipment.
